Namakan High Seas Adventure!
The Namakan Cabin
July 6th – 9th Permission slips are due ASAP! We need a head count for food and planning activities! This
is the trip of a lifetime for most of the Scouts! There will be all kinds of fun in the sun! We will work on some rank advancement for 1st class and under. New surprises are in store for this trip! Plan to have a blast! The Scouts are outside the whole time,
so plan accordingly. Food will be provided!
Food allergies? Please contact Karin Maahs ASAP!
New Merit
badges are coming up soon!
Don’t
forget to complete the ones that you start!!
Please remember
that Scouts must have at least the rank of Tenderfoot to start a merit badge.
Older Scouts we
are impressed by your willingness to help the younger scouts so they can earn the Tenderfoot ranking! Keep it up! They really look up to you!
Positions of Leadership
Please note Star, Life, and Eagle Scouts. In order to advance in rank you must satisfy the requirements
for the leadership position you have been appointed to. We will ask for proof
when you come up for review. Questions?
Talk to Doug or Brian.
Needed: 3 Patrol Advisors
Adults!! We are in the need of a Panther, Cobra and Royal Tigers Patrol Advisor.
You would
be helping to keep boys on track to complete their rank requirements. This is done by reviewing the advancement record of each Scout regularly and helping the Scout to plan
advancement. Eagles have found this especially helpful! Talk to Doug for more information.

Camping Corner

Here are a few tips help stay dry on a campout.
1) Pack rain gear. There are many types in varying price ranges. Buy what best suits your needs, if you camp a lot and don’t
plan to grow much consider a nylon suit, if the reverse is true consider something a bit more disposable and replaceable.
2) Get together with your tent partner and decide who will bring a piece of plastic or a tarp (8x10) to lay under your tent
to keep water from soaking in from the floor of the tent. 3) When leaving tent unattended for long periods of time with possible
bad weather on the horizon, zip up the windows on the tent to prevent items like your sleeping bag from getting wet from wind
blown rain. 4) Consider your tent site well. Look for dry, slightly higher, semi flat ground. Do not choose sites at bottoms
of hills or in water run off areas or areas with a bowl shape. Following these tips should help to keep you dry and comfortable
on your next campout.
